Three Things That Make the 2022 Volkswagen Taos Stand Out

Volkswagen's exciting all-new small SUV is quickly catching on. With a thoughtful design, plenty of space, and famous German engineering, the Taos is poised for long-term success. It comfortably seats five, includes plenty of versatile cargo volume, and has plenty of power to boot. Here, we discuss three of the most important things to know about the 2022 Volkswagen Taos.

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos delivers fuel economy and plenty of torque

The Taos features a newly-designed 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 158 horsepower and a responsive 184 lb-ft of torque. The Miller Cycle design features new geometry and high injection pressure that makes it more capable and efficient than existing light turbo engines. This equates to a better power / fuel consumption ratio compared to older light turbocharged units.

With FWD and AWD available, you can access the drivetrain you need. FWD models also feature an 8-speed transmission, and AWD models receive a quick-shifting 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This offers quick acceleration and a dynamic drive.

The 2021 Volkswagen Taos features advanced standard tech

Each Taos model comes standard with the Volkswagen Digital Cockpit instrument panel. It is a fully customizable high-resolution display that offers much more than traditional readouts. This leads to an 8-inch infotainment screen that bundles vehicle functions, connectivity, entertainment, and more.

Taos also features safety technologies such as Forward Collision Warning with Autonomous Braking (Front Assist), Active Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist), Adaptive Cruise Control, High Beam Control, an Adaptive Front-Lighting System, and Park Distance Control.

The 2022 Volkswagen Taos solves the space problem

To compare, the Tiguan is 236 mm longer than Taos. However, that doesn't stop Taos from having 2,817 litres of passenger volume and up to 1,877 mm of cargo volume behind the front seats. Behind the rear seats, you'll find an impressive 796 litres. This provides your family the flexibility it needs for its daily lifestyle.

The 2021 Taos adds comfort with standard heated front seats and more safety with LED exterior lighting. No matter how you look at it, the Taos is ready to go virtually anywhere you want to take it.
