Earlier this year Volkswagen announced a series of improvements for the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. These included a more powerful engine, more features, and a revised line up.
Pricing for the redesigned and improved 2022 Volkswagen Jetta and 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI has just been announced. The Jetta will start at $22,595 while the GLI has a starting price of $31,595.
Under the hood, the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta gets a more powerful 1.5 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine continues to offer the most standard torque in the segment with 184 pound-feet. The difference is that it now offers 155 standard horsepower which is more than the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, or Mazda3.
The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI gets a more powerful 2 L turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Like the 2022 Jetta, the GLI is offered with either a six-speed manual, or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The Jetta features an available 8 speed automatic.
The new 2022 Volkswagen Jetta will be offered in three versions: Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline. The base Trendline model will feature standard LED headlights and taillights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a standard Volkswagen Digital Cockpit digital instrument cluster. No other compact sedan offers this level of standard technology.
As you move up the lineup, you find a range of other features including blind spot monitoring, Blind Spot control, Car-Net remote connectivity, satellite radio, keyless entry with push-button start, and wireless phone charging. You will also get heated rear seats, adaptive front lighting system, a larger 10.25-inch display for the instrument cluster, and a high-end BeatsAudio sound system.
As for the GLI, it comes standard with all of the features listed above as well as features designed to improve performance such as adaptive damping and driving modes. It also features ventilated front seats.
