2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport vs 2020 Chevy Blazer

The Atlas Cross Sport starts a new era for Volkswagen with the launch of a midsize SUV to compete with the best in its class. With standard all-wheel drive across all models, abundant power, and refreshing style, the Atlas Cross Sport is ready for Canada’s changing road conditions and to make its mark anywhere it goes. To illustrate the quality of this new Volkswagen, we compare it to the 2020 Chevy Blazer - a midsize SUV that just made a comeback.

The 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport offers more performance value in base levels

The Atlas Cross Sport offers two powerful engines. The Trendline and Comfortline both feature a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 235 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, which is more powerful than three out of five Chevy Blazer trims. The Execline and Comfortline trims upgrade to a 3.6L six-cylinder engine that produces 276 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

4MOTION all-wheel drive is standard on all Atlas Cross Sport models, whereas you have to “buy up” to premium models to receive AWD on a Blazer. It will cost you more with a Blazer to have a feature that is important for Canadian roads. The Atlas Cross Sport also includes various driving modes, including Snow, On-Road, Off-Road, and more that adjust power, transmission, and throttle settings to turn the Atlas Cross Sport into a versatile tool for Canada’s roads.

Interior space makes the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport a winner

The Atlas Cross Sport makes use of its 104 mm length advantage over the Blazer to provide a stunning cargo capacity of 2,203 litres, which is 385 more than the Blazer’s maximum capacity. The Atlas Cross Sport also maintains a 277-litre volume advantage behind the rear seats for a total of 1,141 litres. Occupants also receive more space in the right places. The Volkswagen has more front and rear leg room and shoulder room than the Chevy Blazer.

There is a list of special amenities available on the Atlas Cross Sport that you won’t find in the Blazer. These include: power folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, driver adjustable lumbar, auto-leveling headlights, and automatic parking.
